A Mom and Her Girls
07.01.2019

Favorite Image:
This image is one of my most iconic. I love it so much! These sisters are nestled together. I know, in actuality, that they are the adventurous type! So having a session where they explored shop windows and checked out space was true to them. It was such fun! We also had a beautiful night! This session is from 2017 but it is surely a favorite. That is why I'm revisiting it this week in my "From the Archives" series.
Enjoy!

Like Mother; Like Daughters:
This session is of a mother and her two daughters. This lovely friend of mine makes photographing her daughters regularly a priority. They are so good at it! They also love to dress up in whatever their mom has ready for them. I think they like to be a part of the shopping process now too! They know that I always have a prize bag waiting for them to dig through at the end if they've done a good job. I love getting to photograph and hang out with this family.
The Space:
I really like this space. Its a little alleyway in downtown Hollidaysburg. The lantern-style lights offer lots of visual interest and depending on the time of year, there are plants there too. It's a lovely little space!

Window Shopping:
The girls had fun checking out the windows that were ready for Christmas, even though it was only August!
Portrait Time:
Next, we did portraits of the girls separately and some with their Momma too. These portraits mix in some silly faces, which they do really well! Having a wide-open aperture allows for some of that bokeh in the background for these portraits. This really helps the downtown atmosphere not overwhelm a cute smiling face.

Walking:
We closed up our session with the girls walking down the sidewalk together. They felt like such big kids and so independent as they did this. They bopped along and had fun together. All I had to do was run and shoot at the same time - they were walking fast! Prizes happened shortly afterward! :)
What am I about?
My business is about providing art opportunities in the Altoona community as well as portraiture photography work. As a creative person, I like to dabble in other areas that allow me to bear witness to others' lives and explore what brings us all together.
